Lost Mary Airplane Mode Nicotine Pouches: Flavour Review

Lost Mary Airplane Mode Nicotine Pouches: Flavour Review

Introduction: What are Airplane Mode Nicotine Pouches?

With sales of nicotine pouches in the UK up by over 120%, it’s clear that this smoke-free alternative is on the rise. Every week, a new brand hits the market, and now, Lost Mary-a giant in the vaping world-has released their own line of nicotine pouches under the Airplane Mode brand. As someone who’s tried countless nicotine pouches, I was curious to see if Lost Mary’s Airplane Mode range would stand out in such a crowded market.

In this review, I’ll dive into all six flavours in the range, breaking down their taste profiles and highlighting why each one is worth trying (or not).

Airplane Mode: Can you use nicotine pouches while flying?

Do you know why nicotine pouches are better for travel than vapes? Because you can use them anywhere. Unlike vaping, nicotine pouches are discreet, smokeless, and don’t trigger alarms or get you into trouble for breaking smoke-free rules.

I personally vape, and I travel abroad once a year. It's a long distance flight of 11 hours, so once I get to the airport, I’ll chain vape like crazy before walking to check-in. I’m excited for my trip, but in the back of my mind I’m also a little bit on edge - I know that my nicotine cravings will be gnawing at me for the next 15 hours at least.

For years, this was my routine - counting the hours until I could finally vape again. That is, until I discovered nicotine pouches (they sold them inside the airport). I snapped up a tub, popped one in, read my book and relaxed. It was such a strange feeling to sit in the waiting lounge and not feel low key anxiety building up.

An hour and a half later I was on the plane, pillow around my neck and all my things nicely tucked away. I took out my nicotine pouches without fear of reprisal, placed another one under my lip and buckled up. After the meal I slept like a baby.

Since then, I always have a tub of nicotine pouches close at hand. They're lifesavers anytime I’m indoors. Whether I’m on the tube, sitting through a long play at the theatre, or even attending a concert where vaping is a no-go, nicotine pouches have become my go-to solution. Total. Game. Changer.

How much nicotine is in Airplane Mode pouches?

There are a good range of nicotine strengths to choose from that cater to all levels.

  • The medium strength 9mg/g option is suitable for new starters or anyone with low nicotine cravings like social smokers, or vapers that use 3mg to 6mg of nicotine in their e-liquid.

  • The strong 18mg/g will be ideal for a 10 to 15 a day smoking habit or anyone who vapes 10mg to 12mg of nicotine.

  • The x-strong 30mg/g seasoned veterans, smokers on a pack a day or more and vapers who use 20mg nic salts, the 30mg/g will comfortably keep your cravings at bay.

If you are just starting your nicotine pouch journey, it’s better to start on a lower strength until your mouth gets used to absorbing nicotine this way. Lost Mary Airplane Mode flavour review

I’m going to review all six of the Airplane Mode flavours. Opting for the lowest nicotine strength 9mg/g, I’ll be using each pouch for half an hour. This is enough time to allow the flavour to develop and find out how long it lasts.

Flavour Profile: Cool Storm

First impressions

This one tastes like my toothpaste- not a criticism. Cool Storm is a familiar mint flavour that is actually quite comforting and moreish. It’s a mild peppermint note backed up by a gentle coolness which lingers around the gums.

How long does the flavour take to develop?

The mint and ice develops within the first 5 minutes and the flavour peaks at about the 15 minute mark. These are slightly moist pouches, so they’ll need a bit of time for the flavours to release as the pouch moistens further in your mouth.

How long does it last for?

Airplane Mode Cool Storm remained flavourful for the full 30 minutes of use, getting sweeter as time went on. The ice note drops off about half way through.

Is the flavour accurate?

I’m not sure what a cool storm is supposed to taste like, but it’s minty, icy and does the job. I like the fact that the flavours are present without being too overwhelming. I think this would be a good flavour to start the day with and an easy all-day option.

Flavour Profile: Freezing Ice

First impressions

Piercing peppermint and a shock of ice best sums up the flavour of Airplane Mode Freezing Ice-it’s like the breath of winter in your mouth. This is an intense flavour that will definitely refresh your palate with bold mint balanced with a sub-zero chill.

How long does the flavour take to develop?

A note of crisp peppermint flavour builds slowly over the span of 5 minutes to a crescendo that is potent and breathtakingly cool.

How long does it last for?

Freezing Ice delivers a strong amount of mint flavour with consistent levels of ice throughout the 30 minutes that I used this pouch.

Is the flavour accurate?

This is a powerful peppermint flavour that blasts your senses with breathtaking levels of menthol and ice, I’d say it does what it says on the tin.

Flavour Profile: Rose Grape

First impressions

I really enjoyed Airplane Mode Rose Grape, it’s luscious and fragrant flavour filled my mouth with welcome sweetness. This is a perfectly balanced bouquet delivering a rich grape flavour bound with floral notes of rose.

How long does the flavour take to develop?

Opening the tub released a pungent aroma of rose and grape. However, the first 5 minutes of using the pouch had me worried- I couldn't taste anything. Then, all of a sudden, the flavour seeped through in a burst of juicy sweetness that increased in intensity.

How long does it last for?

The flavour was consistently sweet, with both flavours holding right to the end.

Is the flavour accurate?

Rose Grape nails the accuracy here with a flavour that is complex and true to taste. Neither flavour subdues the other. I was reminded of floral musk candy and purple grape slush (without the ice, of course).

Flavour Profile: Ice Mint

First impressions

Ice dominates here, the coolness feels like having a small ice cube under your lip. The mint note that lingers in the background is sweet and adds an additional menthol kick to the experience.

How long does the flavour take to develop?

Airplane Mode Ice Mint releases its chill within the first couple of minutes. A subtle note of sweet peppermint follows shortly after.

How long does it last for?

This arctic flavour peaks around the 15 minute mark and remains bracingly chilly for the full 30 minutes. The sweeter mint note increases towards the end.

Is the flavour accurate?

Lost Mary tell no lies with this one. Ice Mint delivers a frosty chill that is cool and refreshing with the soft minty undertone providing just the right amount of flavour.

Flavour Profile: Strawberry

First impressions

This should be called Strawberry Ice Cream, because, wow, there is a really strong amount of chill here. More so than any of the previous icy mint flavours I’ve tried so far. Not a mention of it on the tub so what’s going on here? The strawberry is delicious, reminiscent of a certain Spanish strawberry lollipop, dare I say, even creamy?

How long does the flavour take to develop?

There is a very surprising level of ice here that almost freezes your mouth within seconds. The strawberry comes through after a couple of minutes. It’s sweet, candy flavoured and very smooth.

How long does it last for?

The flavour remains very consistent throughout. After 10 minutes, the ice is borderline unbearable.

Is the flavour accurate?

Well yes and no. For some reason Lost Mary forgot to mention that they put huge amounts of ice in these Strawberry pouches. The chill is so dominant that it overshadows the strawberry flavour, which is a shame as this is a really good, silky sweet strawberry. I feel like they should re-label this tub as a lot of people may be caught off guard. Even then, the balance is just way off. There is far too much ice in this.

Flavour Profile: Max Polar Mint

First impressions

Max Polar Mint tastes like a combination of peppermint and spearmint. There is a good balance of sweetness with a spicy note sitting just underneath it. A very light amount of ice rounds the flavour off nicely.

How long does the flavour take to develop?

The dual mint flavour starts to release after about 5 minutes and peaks at around the halfway mark.

How long does it last for?

After about 25 minutes, the peppermint flavour falls away and the spearmint carries you through to the end of the pouch's life.

Is the flavour accurate?

The focus here is purely on mint. There is a hint of ice but the blend of herbal mint, reminiscent of freshly picked leaves, is certainly pushed to the max.
