Zyn Mini vs Zyn Regular

Zyn Mini is a dry pouch. The flavour is held as a powder inside a small, thin pouch with no flap, and it melts away gradually. In our own testing a Cool Mint Mini 3mg took about 5 minutes before the flavour came through in full. It stays comfortable and it's almost invisible under the lip, which is why it's the format most people use at work.

Zyn Regular is a moist pouch built on natural bamboo fibres, with liquid flavourings instead of powder. Flavour comes through in seconds. Menthol Ice 13.5mg gave us a menthol hit inside 5 seconds. The pouch is bigger and you'll feel it more.

One difference people miss: a Mini can holds 20 pouches, a Regular holds 21. Same £6.50 price, so a Regular works out slightly cheaper per pouch.

Which Zyn Strength Should I Choose?

Zyn labels every can in mg per pouch, so a 6mg can gives you 6mg of nicotine in each pouch. Some brands label in mg per gram instead, which makes the number on the can look bigger than the dose you actually get. Keep that in mind if you're comparing Zyn with a brand like Pablo.

Move up one step at a time. If a 6mg Mini isn't doing enough, the next stop is a 9mg Regular, and that's a bigger change than the numbers suggest because the format changes with it. Give it a few days before you decide.

Worth saying, though: 6mg Mini is the most ordered strength we sell, by a distance. For most people it's the destination rather than a step on the way to something stronger.

Mint is where Zyn is strongest. Cool Mint is peppermint with menthol sitting behind it, closer to chewing gum than an ice blast, and it covers more strengths than any other flavour. Spearmint is the softer, sweeter mint and the easiest on the sinuses, available all the way down to 1.5mg. Apple Mint puts crisp green apple over cool peppermint. Menthol Ice at 13.5mg is pure menthol with nothing else going on, immediate and steady for about 30 minutes.

On the fruit side, Black Cherry is the standout. Rich berry aroma the moment you open the can, sweet and tangy, and no cooling at all if that's what you're after. Blackcurrant Frost pairs dark fruit with a heavy menthol edge, more like a lozenge, and the flavour builds within 20 seconds. Red Fruits at 9mg mixes strawberry, raspberry and rhubarb with a cool finish.

Citrus divides opinion in our office. The lemon and lime blend reads like a hard boiled lemon sweet, and our own tester found it muted next to everything else. It's also our second best selling Zyn, which tells you how many people want a flavour that stays quiet in the background all day.

Then the 2 that aren't like anything else Zyn makes. Coffee opens milky and creamy before a full roasted coffee flavour comes through, with chocolate sweetness behind it. Chili Guava is tropical fruit with a warm chilli heat that stays around the pouch while the fruit develops on your tongue. It's the most interesting can Zyn makes.

The Most Popular Zyn Flavours

Cool Mint Mini 6mg is our best selling Zyn. Look down the rest of the list and a pattern shows up fast: 5 of our top 6 are Minis, and 4 of those are 6mg. The dry Mini at the top of its strength ladder is where most Zyn customers settle.

Citrus Mini 6mg is second, and it's the one that surprised us. Our own tester rated it 3 out of 5 for being too subtle. The order numbers say plenty of people want exactly that, with enough flavour to notice and not so much that you tire of it by mid-afternoon. Coffee Mini 6mg is third and has the most loyal following of any Zyn we sell.

What Zyn Pouches Feel Like to Use

How fast the flavour arrives depends entirely on which format you've bought.

A dry Mini takes its time. Expect 3 to 5 minutes before the flavour is fully there, then a mellow release that fades away rather than dropping off a cliff. The tingle is mild, and at 1.5mg or 3mg you'll barely notice it.

A moist Regular is immediate. Flavour inside 15 to 20 seconds, then a firmer tingle for the first few minutes before it settles. At 13.5mg the cooling is noticeably heavier, because that recipe carries more moisture than the 9mg and 11mg cans.

Most people keep a pouch in for 30 to 45 minutes either way. Used pouches go in the compartment in the lid, and the cans are 90% bio-based plastic, so they go in your kerbside recycling.

Zyn Flavour Name Changes Explained

Zyn moved to its 3.0 range and renamed several flavours along the way. If you're searching for an old favourite, here's where it went.

Blackcurrant Frost is close to Icy Blackcurrant without being identical. The fruit base is the same, though the menthol is heavier and the pouch feels a little drier on the tongue.

A few flavours have gone from the UK altogether, including Original, Gold, Cucumber Lime and Ginger Blood Orange. If you used Original or Gold, Cool Mint Mini is the closest match on the mint side, and Citrus is the nearest thing to Gold's lighter profile.

Zyn Snus or Zyn Nicotine Pouches?

Plenty of people search for "Zyn snus", but Zyn is a tobacco-free nicotine pouch. Real snus contains tobacco leaf and can't legally be sold in the UK. Zyn uses purified nicotine with plant fibres and flavourings instead, in the same under-the-lip format, which is why the snus name stuck.

The history explains the rest. Swedish Match made traditional snus for well over a century, then took the tobacco out in 2016 and launched Zyn. Same company, same format, no tobacco leaf.
